4-step option method for S series helical gearbox
Step 1 – Define your duty
Load type: Uniform / Medium shock / Heavy shock?
Daily operating hours: ≤10 hrs or >10 hrs?
Starts per hour: How many start/stop cycles?
Step 2 – Calculate your requirements
Ratio = Input RPM ÷ Required Output RPM
Required torque = (Power × 9550 × Ratio × Efficiency) ÷ Input RPM
S Series efficiency: higher than plain worm gearboxes (helical stage improves efficiency)
Step 3 – Apply service factor
Uniform load, 10 hrs/day → SF 1.0 – 1.2
Medium shock, 10 hrs/day → SF 1.2 – 1.5
Heavy shock, 10 hrs/day → SF 1.5 – 1.8
Adjusted Power = Required Power × SF
Step 4 – Match to model
Find the smallest S Series model that meets:
Required torque ≤ Rated torque (with SF applied)
Required ratio available in standard range
Models: S37, S47, S57, S67, S77, S87, S97
