Before you start selecting an S Series gearbox, gather these 5 critical inputs:

S series gearbox utilization factor, power calculation, S series gearbox torque calculation

1. Motor power (kW) – S Series covers 0.12 – 22 kW. What‘s your motor rating?

2. Required output speed or ratio – Ratio = Motor RPM ÷ Desired Output RPM. S Series standard ratios: 6.8 – 288 (combined up to 14,000).

3. Required output torque (N·m) – T₂ = (9550 × P × i × η) ÷ n₁. S Series torque range: 11 – 5,000 N·m. Never exceed the maximum torque rating of the gearbox.

4. Self-locking requirement – Does your application need to prevent reverse rotation when power is off? (Hoists, elevators, inclined conveyors = YES)

5. Mounting position (M1-M6) – Different positions affect oil level and lubrication. Specify this upfront.
