How to Select ZLY Reducer by Motor Power & Output Speed
To pick the correct ZLY gear reducer, you need two core parameters: motor power (kW) and required output speed (rpm).
Step 1: Confirm your basic data
Motor rated power: P (kW)
Motor synchronous / rated speed:
2‑pole: ~2900 rpm
4‑pole: ~1440 rpm (most common)
6‑pole: ~960 rpm
8‑pole: ~720 rpm
Required output speed of the equipment: \(n_{\text{out}}\) (rpm)
Load type: steady load, moderate impact or heavy shock
Working hours per day, start‑stop frequency
Step 2: Gearbox Reducer Work out the transmission ratio
Match this calculated ratio to the standard ratio list of ZLY reducers. If the exact ratio is unavailable, select the nearest standard ratio and recheck the actual output speed.
Step 3: Apply service factor
Add a service factor \(f_s\) to avoid overload damage:
Steady load, few starts: \(f_s = 1.0 \sim 1.25\)
Moderate impact, frequent starts: \(f_s = 1.25 \sim 1.5\)
Heavy shock, continuous heavy load: \(f_s = 1.5 \sim 2.0\)
The required reducer capacity must satisfy:
Reducer allowable power / allowable torque ≥ Motor power × service factor
After completing the basic parameter matching of the hard tooth surface high-power reducer
gearbox, it is necessary to supplement and verify three key dimensions to avoid selection
omissions:
1. Thermal power verification: For 24-hour continuous operation under heavy load conditions, it
is necessary to verify whether the thermal power of the selected model is greater than the rated
power of the motor. If the thermal power is insufficient, a fan, water-cooled coil or circulating oil
lubrication system should be installed to prevent long-term overheating and damage to the gears.
2. Installation and connection adaptation: Confirm that the alignment accuracy of the coupling
between the input shaft and the motor, and the output shaft and the load is ≤ 0.05mm, to avoid
additional radial forces exceeding the allowable load of the shaft extension; At the same time,
select the corresponding assembly form based on the on-site space, and prioritize the most
commonly used I/II standard layout to reduce procurement and maintenance costs.
3. Environmental adaptation verification: For dusty mining scenes, choose a dustproof level of
IP5X or above, and for humid outdoor scenes, choose a waterproof level of IPX5 or above; When
the ambient temperature is below 0 ℃, a lubricating oil electric heater should be installed to
ensure that the oil temperature is preheated to above 0 ℃ before starting.

If you only know motor power and output speed but are unsure of the load, send us these two parameters plus load description. Our engineering team can recommend the proper ZLY model and ratio for you.
