Servo Precision Helical Planetary Gear Reducer High Temperature Noise
An AB180-12 gearbox emitted a squeaking, grinding noise under high temperatures.
Inspection revealed the problem: the helical gear reducer experiences axial force at high speeds.
This forward force causes friction between the top surface of the second-stage sun gear
and the bottom surface of the planetary carrier on the low-speed output shaft,
potentially leading to complete seizure.
Solutions:
Option 1: Add a steel ball bearing between the two end faces.
Option 2: Add wear-resistant friction plates.
Option 3: Add a thrust bearing.
