Installation errors of WP series reducers can cause rapid wear of oil seals
WP Series Installation – Alignment & Mounting Standards
Proper installation of WP series cast iron worm gearboxes is critical for performance, longevity, and safety
Mounting Position
The gearbox should be mounted horizontally or vertically, but never in an inclined position. The mounting surface must be flat and free of protrusions or burrs
Critical: Shaft Alignment
When connecting the motor and reducer, ensure the concentricity of the two shafts. Excessive error
causes:
●Rapid wear of gears and bearings
●Oil leakage from oil seals
Alignment requirement: Check using a laser alignment tool and adjust as necessary.
Base Installation
For base-mounted models, firmly fix the reducer on a concrete foundation or steel frame through anchor bolts. The base plane must be flat to prevent box deformation from causing bearing damage
Lubrication Before Startup
●Check oil level before startup; top up as required
●After adding oil, tighten the top breather and remove the small cone plug before startup
Ventilation
The gearbox should be properly ventilated to prevent overheating; install in a position allowing free airflow around the unit
Installation Best Practices
●Pre-installation inspection – check for damage, verify oil level
●Mount on flat surface – level and securely mounted
●Connect shafts – align reducer with input/output shafts; use coupling
●Tighten bolts
