Gearbox Overheating Causes Troubleshooting and Complete Solutions for Industrial Reducers

Overheating of mining gearboxes can be targeted from four dimensions: lubrication, load, mechanical failure, and heat dissipation. The specific methods are as follows:

1. Troubleshooting and handling of lubrication system

Check the oil level. If the oil level is too high or too low, it will cause heating and needs to be adjusted to the standard oil level specified by the equipment; Check the oil quality. If impurities, moisture, or deterioration occur in the oil, replace it with the same type of lubricating oil that meets the operating conditions. At the same time, clean the blocked oil circuit and nozzle to ensure smooth lubrication.

2. Load condition adjustment/speed reducer overheating

If the equipment is in overload operation for a long time, the working load should be adjusted to the rated range to avoid excessive gear meshing stress and continuous heat generation.

3. Mechanical fault maintenance

Stop the machine for disassembly and inspection. If the bearing is found to be stuck or damaged, or if the gear has pitting, abrasion, or abnormal meshing clearance, the worn parts need to be replaced, and the gear meshing clearance and bearing coaxiality need to be recalibrated to eliminate abnormal friction.

4. Optimization of heat dissipation capability

Clean the dust and oil stains on the surface of the gearbox heat sink to ensure smooth ventilation; In high temperature environments, forced ventilation devices, radiators, or heat exchangers can be installed. Equipment with water-cooled structures should check the temperature of the cooling medium to avoid insufficient heat dissipation and temperature rise.
