How to choose a gearbox supplier
When choosing a supplier, here‘s a simple 5-point checklis
1. Technical Capability
Do they provide complete technical specifications?
Can they confirm gear material (e.g., 20CrMnTi) and heat treatment (HRC 58–62)?
Do they offer CAD drawings?
2. Product Consistency
If replacing a brand, are mounting dimensions identical? Ask for a dimensional comparison.
3. Lead Time & After-Sales
What‘s the delivery time for standard products?
What‘s the delivery time for custom orders?
What‘s the warranty period?
4. Certifications
ISO 9001?
CE certified (for Europe)?
5. References
Do they have clients in your industry?
Can they share similar application cases?
Quick tip: A good supplier will ask you about power, ratio, mounting type, and application in their first reply – not give you a generic price.
