Wide speed range: from under 50 RPM to over 1,000 RPM
High precision: labeling and indexing may require low backlash
Compact size: limited space inside the machine
Because of these demands, you cannot simply choose a gear motor by horsepower. You need to match torque, speed, gear type, backlash, duty cycle, and environment.
